Why Nanoplasty and Brazilian Blowout Don’t Make Hair Pin-Straight

Why Nanoplasty and Brazilian Blowout Don’t Make Hair Pin-Straight

Many clients come into the salon expecting perfectly straight, flat hair after treatments like nanoplasty or a Brazilian Blowout. While these treatments can dramatically smooth and soften the hair, it’s important to understand that they are not permanent straighteners.

Both nanoplasty and Brazilian Blowout treatments are designed mainly to reduce frizz, soften the curl pattern, and make the hair easier to manage. They work by coating or restructuring parts of the hair fiber so the cuticle lies flatter. This gives the hair a smoother, shinier appearance and helps it resist humidity.

However, these treatments do not completely break and rebuild the hair’s internal bonds the way a traditional chemical straightener or relaxer does. Because of this, your natural texture is still there.

If you naturally have waves or curls, you should expect the hair to relax rather than become dead straight. For example:

  • Tight curls may become loose waves

  • Waves may become very soft bends

  • Frizzy hair will appear smoother and shinier

Many clients actually prefer this result because the hair still has movement and body instead of looking flat or overly processed.

Another factor is the hair’s natural structure. The stronger the curl pattern and the thicker the hair strand, the more likely it is that some wave or slight curl will remain after the treatment.

The good news is that styling becomes much easier. Blow-drying the hair straight will take far less time, and humidity will have much less effect on the hair.

The key takeaway is simple:
Nanoplasty and Brazilian Blowout treatments are smoothing treatments, not full straightening treatments. Expect smoother, softer, more manageable hair — but not perfectly pin-straight hair, especially if your hair is naturally curly or wavy.
